Car accident in Gwinnett County, Georgia, leaves one injured

Being in a car accident can be injurious and can cause property damage to your vehicle. Sometimes, no matter how carefully you maneuver your car, you end up in a terrible car crash that is so frightening. In Gwinnett County, Georgia, a driver supposedly crashed his car into a Gwinnett County Sheriff's patrol car that saw the deputy injured and hanging onto life in 2014.

The man, who caused the accident on Sept. 24 of last year, caused the crash on the southbound lane of interstate 85. The stretch between Indian Trail and Jimmy Carter Boulevard is where the crash occurred. While the driver who caused the accident remained uninjured, the deputy left the scene in an ambulance and ended up in the hospital.

The authorities stated that the deputy was assisting a maintenance crew working on the express lane on I-85. He had his emergency lights on and the man hit him anyway. He was driving a 2015 Kia Optima. He hit the deputy's squad car, rolled over twice and came to a stop. The sheriff's car was parked safely in the partially blocked emergency lane where the crew was working.

The man told the police that he was using his cellphone at the time of the accident. When he looked up, it was too late to avoid the crash.

The deputy recovered after 10 months and has returned to duty with really bad scarring on the back of his head.

The man was charged with driving without a valid driver's license, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and for following too closely. The man has also been indicted. He will face trial in the Gwinnett Superior Court on each of the many offenses that include driving under the influence-drugs, causing serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving and failing to use due care while using a cellphone.

Have you been involved in a car accident that was no fault of your own? You may want to talk to someone who can help.
