A man was involved in a tragic car accident that took the lives of his wife, his great-granddaughter–who was just six months on–and the young girl’s mother. He did survive the accident, though, and he is still on life support.
A 4-year-old granddaughter also survived the crash.
The family seems to feel positive about the direction the man’s health is going. They said that he was able to open his eyes, and one family member said he had enough strength and awareness to squeeze a person’s hand.
The details about the accident show that it was initiated when one vehicle slowed down to turn to the right. It appears that a pickup truck was coming up behind that car and failed to stop in time, slamming into the back of it. That truck was driven by a 29-year-old man, who was just slightly injured and only had to be treated at the crash site.
The wreck happened at 8:45 p.m., close to the Bulloch/Jenkins County line, out on Gay’s Hill Church Road and Highway 25.
As of right now, the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is still looking into the exact cause of the accident, so charges are pending and have not yet moved past that stage. Though reports would indicate that the pickup did strike the back of the car, there are many other factors that must be considered before an official cause can be released.
