Thank you for choosing Hilley & Frieder to represent you.
We understand that prior to the fear and anxiety associated with coronavirus, COVID-19, you and your family were already struggling with the angst and aftermath associated with being the victim of negligence. Our work focuses on helping our clients get through challenging times, and we want to share with you the steps we are taking to ensure that your case continues to move smoothly in this novel environment created by coronavirus, COVID-19.
First, we want to update you on recent developments in the Judiciary. On Friday, March 13, 2020, Fulton County Chief Superior Court Judge Christopher Brasher declared a judicial emergency that will effectively stop all jury trials for the next 30 days and canceled all nonessential matters scheduled to be heard within the next 30 days unless they can be conducted via video or teleconferencing. Other counties have followed suit also declaring judicial emergencies and suspending jury calendars, including Dekalb, Gwinnett, Henry, and Floyd Counties, and the Judicial Circuits of Macon, Augusta and Blue Ridge. The State Board of Workers’ Compensation has also closed for two weeks. Even if your case is not scheduled for a trial or motion to take place in the next 30 days, this development will most likely incur some additional delays.
Today brings new challenges as we face a national shut down of centers and events attracting between 50 and 250 people. We understand that the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic may increase any financial pressure you are already facing. Please know that since we are a boutique office, these mandatory closures will not stop us. Our office will remain open through this emergency, and we will continue to fight on your behalf.
The health, safety and security of our clients is our main concern. We have instituted additional cleaning procedures in line with the CDC recommendations. However, if you would like to discuss your case, we encourage you to consider scheduling a telephone conference which can be conducted with us in the safety and privacy of your home.
If you have any questions or concerns about your case, please feel free to reach out to us – that’s why we are here.
Hilley & Frieder can handle all aspects of you case virtually from interview through conclusion. We are open and available to help you. Please view our complete COVID-19 statement to learn more about the steps we are taking to ensure that your case continues to move smoothly in this environment.
