Drunk driving accident follow some trends

On Behalf of | Jul 29, 2016 | Drunk Driving Accidents

When you get on the highways, you probably aren’t thinking about how other drivers are driving, how drunk drivers are more likely to be on the roads at certain periods or how accidents involving drunk drivers seem to follow certain trends. Still, it is important for you to know about some trends so that you can try to protect yourself from drunk drivers.

Nighttime driving is the most dangerous time to drive when you consider the rate of fatal accidents that involve a drunk driver. Fatal accidents at night are four times more likely to have a drunk driver involved than fatal accidents that occur during the day. Also, the weekends are more dangerous than the week days.

Drunk driving accidents are more likely to involve a drunk male than a drunk female. They are also more likely to involve a drunk driver who is between the ages of 25 and 34. Motorcycles are the type of vehicle that is most likely to be involved in a fatal drunk driving accident, but pickup trucks come in a close second. Passenger cars and SUVs come in third and fourth on the list. Vans and large trucks account for only a very small percentage of the vehicles involved in these accidents.

All of this information likely isn’t going to make you feel any better if you were the victim in a drunk driving accident. In that case, you might decide to seek compensation to show the drunk driver that his or her actions weren’t acceptable. Compensation can help your financial situation while helping you to prove your point.
